The Daddy-Daughter Dance was great last night. Viv really enjoyed all the dressing up and having her hair done, but she really liked having an evening with her daddy too. At the end of the night, it was really sweet – the younger girls were tired and the last slow dance (Viv included), the Daddy’s all were carrying their little girls and slow dancing. I was reminded of rocking Viv to sleep to some of my songs when she was a baby. A really, really, good night.
Wow, yesterday was madness. Viv had to be kept home because she barfed all over the school the day before. So after, dropping Bubs off at school and Viv off at my mother’s, I had to be in Wilmington, DE for a meeting at 10am (always good to see the folks from Mind Over Media – Ray, Drew, and Jodi). Next up, a buttload of coding. Viv wasn’t feeling well enough for art class so she was dropped off by Mom. Picked up Bubs from school. Homework. More coding. Abbe comes home to take Viv to Brownies, while I take Bubs off to ice hockey evals. I got home around 8:30pm and man, the couch felt great to finally collapse upon.
Today is Abbe’s birthday. My very good friend, the New Mexican Giant, Tom Williams has a great phrase for uncontrollable mourning, “The Unstoppable Boo-Hoo”. Well, Abbe is the anti-thesis to that, she would be “The Unstoppable Smile”. As mushy and sappy as that sounds, it’s accurate and anyone that knows her will tell you so. She has made me a better and happier person. I am incredibly humbled to be your guy.
Happy Birthday Abbe, I am so grateful to know you.
Today is chocked full of meetings and coding and lions, and tigers, and bears… wait, just the first two things. No lions, or tigers, or bears. Oh My.
One animal that does need my attention is our buddy Titan. Now that Abbe and are are not in marathon training mode, our big guy has not gotten in the same number of walks, runs, and outside time he was enjoying. The result has been a pup that acts up a bit in the evenings. After getting frustrated with Titan plenty the past couple weeks, I’m going to start getting out of my chair twice a day and taking him for a walk around the block. It will be good for both of us.
KONY 2012 - I had an interesting discussion with a friend after I had shared this on Facebook. Ultimately, I support what KONY 2012 is doing, but I have some questions about their overhead numbers. I’ll share more once I hear back from the org (emailed them last night). Here is more from the detractors… and here is Invisible Children’s response.
I am running the 2012 Philly Marathon in honor of my fiancee, Abbe and everyone that has had seizure disorders affect their lives. Please donate if you can
