somewhat busy
Saturday, April 28th, 2012Today is a somewhat busy one. I’ve got lots of coding to tackle today. Bubs has an ice hockey game at 2:30 this afternoon. And then we have the annual Mannhassett Trail block party this evening. I hope it warms up a bit so the kids will enjoy running around with their buddies outside.

The Tree of Life
- boy this film really pushes the film for film maker’s sake big time. The good – it’s beautifully shot, original in it’s method of story-telling, great acting, great message – “The only way to be happy is to love. Unless you love, your life will flash by.” The bad – it’s like watching exsistential paint dry.

- very good film. Slow moving and dense at points, but heavy subject material, so warranted. A woman leaves a cult and attempts to get back to some sort of life. Her sister takes her in to live with her and they struggle through undoing the mental and physical torture she endured as a member of the cult. Not a lot of action, but some incredible scenes, and a great open-to-interpretation ending.

– this was a lot better than I expected. And yeah, any father-son movie gets me. Shut up.
- like most Woody Allen movies, you will want to beat the shit out of every single character in this film. Neat story idea though.
– excellent spy thriller. The cast is really top notch and although this is a remake of an Israeli original, it still feels original.
– very good political thriller. Fairly compelling story, but there is nothing blowing up – it might bore the average movie goer.
