Adventures in iPhone Apps

So a few folks have pointed out that my posts have been a bit dark and obtuse lately, ergo I wanted to talk about a few of the cool iPhone apps I recently bought with a nice gift card for my birthday from my cousin Justin and his girlfriend, Beth…

  • Infinity Blade – holy crap this is awesome.
  • Angry Birds Rio – very, very cool. I let Abbe try it Saturday night and an hour later she gave me my iPhone back.
  • MotionX GPS Drive – I really like this so far. The voice guide is a subscription that I’ll only subscribe to when I travel. Can’t believe I waited this long to get some real GPS guidance software.
  • Pano – haven’t played with this much yet (see the picture below taken of my living room), but the stitching interface is pretty decent and I can’t wait to take some panoramic shots of the kids, my house, and Medford Lakes this spring and summer

I’ve still got $11.14 left on my gift card… what else should I buy?

Movie Reviews…

Waiting for “Superman” – I really found this to be a flawed documentary on the problems with public schools. The basic messages : funding for public schools is flawed, public schools are terrible, tenured public educators is a bad idea, and charter schools are awesome. While it is true that the federal funding programs is not without it’s fair share of critics, the majority of school funding comes from local and state revenue. And the film briefly touches on the fact that 1 in 5 charter schools are exceptional and guess what? That same ratio of excellence also applies to public schools. The missing statistic is that many charter schools fail within their first couple years of operation and ultimately lose their charter.
