a good day for all things orange

What a great day. It started off very tentative and busy to say the least. Between 8:30-11:30am… Bubs had an awesome soccer game (he played the entire game in goal and his team won their 3rd straight game in a row 2-1! What to go Oranje!), stopped at the bank, dropped off Abbe at work, shopped for Mya’s birthday present, dropped both kids off at Mya’s birthday party, and took Yogi to the vet.

We were pretty worried about our big orange pup. He was sick all night Thursday and would not touch his food at all Friday, only laying listlessly against the fence in the yard. For such a high-motor dog, it’s odd when he’s not feeling well. Dr. Frame at the Medford Animal Hospital took a look at Yogi and took an x-ray. There is a mass in his GI, but there were three options for what the mass could be: poop, a blockage of some sort, or a tumor. Yogi is 7, so a tumor wouldn’t be unheard of and one very good factor towards ruling the worst scenario out was that his symptoms came on so quickly. Usually when there’s cancer in animals, they have a history of getting sick and lameness. After getting Yogi home, he laid around some more, but perked up and ate a small amount of food and kept it down fine. Later that night, my neighbor Leah (and Mya’s mom) knocked on my door with a hoody that Bubs left at their home during the party. Yogi came trotting over and was wagging his tail and happy to see Leah, constantly ducking his nose under her hand for more pets. This was a great sign. Yogi is looking even better this morning and I bet he’ll be himself by the end of the day. That’s a big relief.

Pictures from yesterday…
