date at the spider museum

I took a shorter soggy 3.5 mile ride this morning which felt awesome. I sprinted the whole way, keeping my speed well above 15 MPH the whole way. I actually really liked riding in the rain, the roads in the lakes are pretty safe and the sound of the rain on the lakes combined with the earthy smell of wet soil was very cool.

I talked to Viv last night, she invited me to come to a spider museum in Georgia. A spider museum sounds a lot like a pet store charging admission to me, but I’d take a date to the spider museum with my angel any day.

Well, the other team didn’t show up last night for the volleyball game. We did play a pickup game or two since we had the court for an hour.

More movie reivews: Citizen Kane -even without considering when this film was made (1941), it’s amazing. 300 – gorgeous imagery, great battle scenes, I want to put on a crimson robe, bronze helmet and go attack something now, this movie kept me up late last night.

I found a nice plug-in for OS Commerce to help one of my clients out, EasyPopulate – which is a nifty way to download your inventory to a CSV, work it over in your favorite spreadsheet application, then re-upload it and viola, you’re done. I got some work done on the Battleship New Jersey site (more to go too), worked on the new client site (if you’re wondering why I never mention what that is, there’s an NDA in place and can’t reveal the product until launch).

A spiderman museum sounds flippin’ fantastic! In fact, that might be the best date scenario ever! Your Viv is one smart cookie. Charming men with comic heroes. =o)

  2.  logoâ„¢ Says:

I bet down there they have an amazing cockroach museum as well, ya know, if the insect museums are your thing.
But really, ok, where WOULD you mind spending a fun day with your angel, hmm?
I actually enjoy the rain myself, which is handy, ya know, being a Washingtonian and all.
Oh, and no, that is not the blurry booby song, that one is Thank You, and there are not, to my knowledge mammary glands involved in any way.

  3.  April Says:

Tell me of this Spider museum in Georgia. I have nephews that would love such a thing….and they are in Atlanta. I’m glad that you got to talk to Viv. The wet ridea are great when it’s been 100 degrees in the shade, like it is here now.

  4.  Captain Corky Says:

I’ve got to see Citizen Kane. It’s usually considered the greatest movie of all time on many lists. I’m personally a really big fan of King Pin myself, but I’ll keep an open mind.

  5.  furiousBall Says:

Christy – it’s a spider museum, not a spiderman museum, but I’d go to either one with my pumpkin

logo – with Viv? Anything is would be fun. I can’t wait until I can take her on bike rides, that would be the best. As for what logo is talking about (the blurry booby song) was from her posting Alanis lyrics on her own blog.

April – really from what Dana described it sounded like a pet store charging admission. My advice to you is to go to a pet store with spiders and lizards if you wanna check some out, much cheaper. It’s a gagillion degrees here too

Captain Corky – yeah it’s tough to top Randy Quaid taking a shit in a urinal, but Citizen Kane definitely gives King Pin a good run for it’s money.

Riding in the rain is a unique experience. I enjoy it, too, so long as it isn’t too cold. I usually take it slow in the rain, but to each his own … I might go faster if I wasn’t on my road bike. Those skinny tires give me pause in slippery conditions.

I’ve never seen Citizen Kane, and I feel like a bad person for it. I will have to see it soon. I liked Kingpin, too, though …

  7.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

    I love Yogi.

Citizen Kane is unbelievable especially now. Have you seen Mr. Smith goes to Washington? Another pertinent movie.

  8.  furiousBall Says:

apertome – I was on my hybrid, i would feel the same on the road bike. you should see citizen kane it will increase your awesomes

Open Grove Claudia – Yogi lover.

Yes, Jimmy Stewart is awesome, very pertinent. Yogi lover.

  9.  tori Says:

We have a reptile museum near us that is a glorified pet store that charges admission. It bugs me a little, but it is still pretty cool.

Last night at my son’s football practice, I saw a bunch of people playing volleyball across the field and thought of you. It looked like a lot of fun!

  10.  furiousBall Says:

tori – it was so humid on the beach last night and then i got all sweaty and sandy…yuck, but it was a good yuck

  11.  Craig D. Says:

    I’m loving those comics!

Hot and humid? Well, yeah, now that you mention it, I suppose…

    IT’S A FRIGGIN’ SAUNA/BRICK OVEN! I’M DYIN’ OVAH HEAH! One-Oh-Ate on the real-feel heat index…

  12.  Chris Says:

Best not to check the “real-feel” heat index. It’s too depressing these days… I’m kinda boggled at the thought of a spider museum. Is it like pressed fairies?

  13.  Jocelyn Says:

I love riding and running in the rain; your whole fitness bidness here sounds cool, right down to the yoga.

David Lee Roth never sang about yoga, did he? But I could probably pull out a little “you might as well JUMP” just to celebrate your exercise deal and all.

Or maybe we could switch passe artists and start quoting Billy Squier to each other?

  14.  mamatulip Says:

I was outside for about 45 minutes yesterday and I nearly melted. Seriously. I can’t imagine taking a RIDE in this weather, rain or no rain. Blech.

  15.  furiousBall Says:

Craig – you know what I like about humidity? nothing

Chris – one can only hope

Jocelyn – I’m In The Dark on that one…woo, I’ve got Billy Squier skillz

mamatulip – it’s not pleasant, but neither is my belly right now

  16.  V-Grrrl Says:

I love the smell of summer rain–and the sweet smell of wet leaves in autumn.

  17.  Marty Says:

Sounds like a fun ride – and moving that quick you don’t have to worry about the bugs (except in your teeth).

“300″ WAS a fantastic movie – not great dialog, perhaps, but visually one of the most stunning movies I’ve seen in a long, long time (although I’ve heard that “Pan’s Labyrinth” is pretty good, too).

A small note – I’ve never been to a spider museum, but I went to the Herpetology Museum down in Wilmington, NC and it wasn’t bad – lots of species that you don’t see at every zoo (mostly venomous ones). I enjoyed it more than Shari did, though.
