no pictures of the princess
This was a decent weekend. The bad part was my wife had a pretty bad migraine and my daughter was a nap-deprived cranky crank pants. But on the good side of the weekend, we did go to a community party celebrating one of my son’s classmate’s victory over cancer, I fixed both toilets, fixed an issue with the kid’s tub drain, Bubba and I went to the pet store to get Wugga Bugga crickets and to check out the very cool blue-tongued skink, Yogi and I got in a two mile run on Sunday, me and my son picked acorns/found worms and slugs, Yogi got a much needed grooming (or as we like to call it “make-my-dog-not-smell-like-fish-and-shit”-ing), Bubba and I got in a bike ride, I got to read Life of Pi in my hammock with the kids climbing all over me, I made some music, I did some project work, and Viv got to meet Cinderella at Cake and Kaboodle.
Viv was scared at first, but as you can see below, she warmed up to Cinderella. She can be seen below shushing other children while Cinderella was reading and telling Dana to stop taking pictures (because Cinderella really doesn’t like paparazzi apparently).

hey, keep it down over there, the princess is reading…capeech?

no photos of the princess please…either one of us
I am really happy with the song I’ve been working on and I finally found a title for it – Threatmantic. I got the name from an episode of The Fairly Odd Parents, when Timmy’s father explains that a good love note always has something sort of threatening in it, threatmantic as it would be. I added a bunch of guitars including some e-bow and one of my new favorite Kyuss-ian tones I came up with. I need to clean up a couple of mis-frettings and then I’ll probably add some more percussion to liven up the drum parts, but that’s about it. Then I’ll have to solve my mastering conundrum.

Wow, it sounds like you had an awesome weekend. It’s amazing how much stuff you can fit in! Hope the Mrs. is feeling better and that Viv gets some sleep.

Oh, and do you know what “threatmantic” is? It’s a portmanteau! I love portmanteau …

“Threatmantic” is full of tasty guitar tones, I like that you went everywhere from ebow to distorted tones. There’s one thing that bothers me, and that’s at 2:13, the line the guitar plays (and repeats for a while) is pretty much exactly the one from … I think it’s Stutter. I doubt anyone else would notice.

Sounds like a full weekend. I graded a couple of acres with the tractor.
Is that your daughter in the pink? She’s unbelievably beautiful. Watch out for that one.

Sarah – I don’t know what the spork you’re talking about…for those of you that don’t understand my librarian friend…portmanteau
apertome – I know, I put that palm muted delay part down and knew I stole from my own guitar parts from Stutter. I need to redo that, you’re right. I don’t want to be Nickelback. *shudder*
Diesel – yep, she’s sportin’ her pink cowgirl boots, my lil’ Texan.

You sound like you got a lot done this weekend! Your kids are adorable! I love how your daughter is so fiesty! Hope your wife is feeling better! I also apparently love exclamation points today!

Van: He gets more done in a day than most people do in a week.
Seriously, I wish I could get projects done in a weekend…. Sounds like you had a heck of a productive weekend – as did the rest of the family. Nice pictures!

Dude! Didn’t anyone ever tell you that weekends for resting?
March 26th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
tori!
Marty – you know it was all good stuff, didn’t seem like as much activity as it seemed. I just got the kids occupied with something fun like forks in outlets and then did some of my house projects, easy!
Jay – what makes you think toilet fixing isn’t relaxing?

I’m exhausted just reading about your weekend! Sounds like a good one, other than the migraine – I can sypathize with your wife!
Hee hee – that glitter quote is priceless.

The song is great! I love what you’ve done with it.

Does Cinderella use MySQL and PHP? Because of the heavy disney influence I wouldn’t have expected her to be such an open source fan… Or maybe you had another reason for including them in the keywords for the post?

The blue tongue skink video is going to give me nightmares. Animals without eyelashes shouldn’t be pets! That’s where I draw the line.
And I think Cinderella was lucky to have a security guard wearing pink boots. Kick butt, little V! You can be she wouldn’t take any crap from the evil stepsisters.
Your weekend sounds wonderful, except for the part about Dana having a migraine. I can’t imagine. Hope she gets relief from those soon. Maybe what she needs is pink cowboy boots to kick them for good.

Just reading about your weekend is making me tired. I think I’ll take a nap now.
March 27th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
Viv is beautiful!! I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before.
Glitter is definitely the herpes of craft supplies. But so necessary if one is going to be a convincing princess.
I’ll bet Yogi is tired now, even if you’re not.

It sounds like a great weekend. And reading about a child overcoming cancer is very encouraging.
