dummy powder and good sammiches
The weekend is over and I nearly got everything completed that I wanted to. I still have some work to finish on the .NET project. But I did accomplish a New Year’s resolution (a small one) – I took the kiddos to the Battleship New Jersey on Saturday morning. They had a great time, climbing around the gun turrets, checking out the ship’s helicopter, the sailor’s bunks, the dummy powder (which I think I put a scoop of dummy powder in my coffee every morning) and seeing just how big the vessel is. We got home (after stopping at Friendly’s for some ice cream and lunch) and I found some videos on YouTube of the same guns we were climbing around on actually being fired. Bubba thought that was waaaay cool.
The kids were over a lot this weekend which was a good thing. I had to do a lot of work on Sunday which forced me to take a shorter bike ride than I had hoped for – I went 9.3 miles, but I wanted to try and shoot for 20.
After getting work done and the bike ride, I went over to my buddies Chris and Rachel’s to watch the Eagles-Giants game. This was fun because Chris and his father-in-law are both Giants fans. His father-in-law’s wife told him that if the Giants won, they’d have sex on a Republican schedule (meaning none – she’s an Eagles fan). His father-in-law made some amazing London broil steak sandwiches that I felt guilty eating as the Eagles beat his Giants. I love going over to their house, they have such a laid back approach to life and are such a fun family to be around.
On the music side of things, I got my copy of the official release of The World of the End this past weekend. It looks great and copies of the DVD are on sale now (featuring a film score by me). Check out the trailer and teaser (QT required)….or the entire film! Adam (filmmaker) even made me a snazzy bio page.
The Get Jacked! podcast played my track, So Funky It Stinks on episode #238.

Oh, Man, those kids are adorable! That’s the big thing on your list if you ask me. I was at a party last night with a lot of Giants fans and a few of us Eagles fans just quietly gloated. I like the way that turned out but don’t have high hopes for next week.

Same here Bud, ‘Nawlins will be tough – Brees is a much better QB than Eli in my opinion.

That battleship looks awesome — and little Van is right about the video being cool. Badass!
Did you do a similar bike route to before, or a new one? I’ve got to come up with more routes around here.

apertome – I actually did the Tour of Homes ride (which is a route I’ve done before), I had incorrectly figured the mileage on Gmaps pedometer as being just over 8. After calibrating my bike computer, I found out it was a mile and a third more than I had thought.
tori – thanks, the adorableness is actually a genetic code that prevents parents from selling their children for science experiments I’m pretty sure.

I’m pretty sure too.
And nine miles on the bike? Daaaaaamn. I wouldn’t be able to walk for weeks if I did that.

I don’t think I have ever looked at a pic of your kids before…they are adorable!

I like the photos of the battleship. It’s never too early to learn that war is fun.
Sex on a Republican schedule? Dude, you operate under so many misconceptions ….

Woah, you’ve never mentioned this movie to me before, cool. And you also didn’t mention that a bunch of the people involved went to Northwestern. Geez!

oops! Thanks to being on Blogger, I’m used to the comments being on the bottom of the post, not at the top. Anyway, I left my comment for this post on the previous post.
Hey, it’s 3am. Don’t suppose I can get a little slack this time, eh?
