come on 2007, I need you to come through
Here’s mine…
- improve myself as a parent in some way (last year I got myself certified for CPR/First Aid)
- cut debt in half
- ride bike to the Jersey shore
run 8 miles- lose ten pounds (I lost about 27 pounds really fast when the separation happened last year, but I put ten back on – I need to get back to that weight, but I need to do it in a healthy way)
take my son to the Battleship New Jersey, both of them to the Franklin Institutemake some music
All in all, I tried to think of my resolutions for ’07 and came to the conclusion that I just wanted to put ’06 behind me. Christ, what a friggin year…the separation, losing Cherrie, food poisoning, my mother’s leg-breaking fall into the Forked River, and my shoulder injury.
I spent NYE watching the Eagles’ second team dismantle the horrible Atlanta Falcons with my Dad, brother-in-law, and family friend Ed Wuillermin (provider of incredible tickets). I hadn’t realized how poor Michael Vick’s long ball was until I saw it in person. He throws frozen ropes under 20 yards, but beyond that, it’s basically a jump ball. I got to meet Johnny Rodeo (the infamous Sign Man from the Vet) at his tailgate party – which was crazy – Elvis impersonator, lots of food and booze. Afterwards we went to the Wuillermin’s farm home in Hammonton, NJ for a late dinner. I grew up going to their farm and picking strawberries, playing in the big fields.
Here’s the recipe for choreg, which a few people asked for after I posted this…
5# Gold Medal Flour
1 3/4 c sugar
2 TBS baking powder
1tsp salt

1# margerine
1 cup crisco

2 3/4 c buttermilk
1 cup sour creme

Those are some great goals, man. I have never really been one for making New Year’s resolutions, although I sort of thought about it this year. Maybe I still will.
That ride to the Jersey shore looks sweet — that’s a long one. Would you then ride back or hitch a ride with someone, or what?
Around here, there’s the Hilly Hundred, a two-day ride that totals 100 miles. I’m going to do that one sometime, although I’m not sure if this is the year to do it.

I might alter the route to go down towards where my father keeps his sailboat. That would be pretty nice day actually… Ride down, have a sail, then catch a ride home and put my bike on the truck home.

That recipe looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it!
We are both in store for a better year! Hopefully that is what will happen!

’06 was kind of shit for me too. It started off with a funeral and went downhill from there. Here’s hoping that this year is better for both of us…
…and yes, please make some more music. And let me know when you do.
