do dah do da doooo… charge!
After trying to get some work done for NitroVideo (but being foiled by an overactive security system that mistook me as a hacker), I talked to the kiddos. I turned on the organ and played them both into giggly fits. For some reason, the charge theme makes Viv giggle like nobody’s business.
My buddy Rach stopped by later for some beers and ice hockey (the Flyers finally won a game, and a shoot-out too to boot!).
In addition to the Flyers winning the game, GM Paul Holmgren had another present for the boys in orange and black – acquiring Vinny Prospal from the Lightning (sorry The Smirking Cat). I’m really surprised all the Flyers had to part with was Alex Picard and a 2009 conditional pick. Picard is a decent puck-moving defenseman, but kind of soft. With the pickings being so thin for quality wingers, I just figured the price would have been higher for a guy with 29 goals this season.

Death Road? And I thought Chippewa Trail was narrow!

Too bad I don’t drink milk. I am pretty handy and could totally make that chandelier. Although sometimes just because you CAN do something doesn’t mean you should.
February 26th, 2008 at 9:30 am
And there was much rejoicing at the win?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:54 am
How much is the beauty mask? I could do with some help in that department! Love the chandelier, the fruit one has too tiny a font [still a bit bleary eyed around here]
So Mister techy [should that be a capital T?] How come when I click on your links I can’t click the green back button arrow to go back to your blog? Instead I have to go to history to get back to your blog? [step by step, idiot proof instructions only please!]
Cheers

Carolyn – Chippewah is narrow…I hate when I have to run in the puddles when a car comes by
tori – right, just like getting the same pixie tattoo that 900000 other single women have on a shoulder blade to symbolize freedom or a wallet chain, or a yellow SUV
Chris – amen, there was
Maddy – because I open my links in a new window, ergo, there is no history. i believe if you control click, you can force it to open in the window (or tab) of your choice (depending on your browser)

That spring loaded beauty mask reminds me of Hannibal Lecter.

Cynnie – you don’t even spell it.
February 26th, 2008 at 11:16 am
I didn’t know Jean Luc Picard played hockey.
And why am I not surprised Gennifer Flowers lives in Las Vegas and is still trying to cash in on her 15 seconds of fame?
February 26th, 2008 at 11:18 am
Franki – yeah, well I bet you didn’t know my Mom plays hockey… again, these My Momma jokes suck
February 26th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Your momma must be a saint.
February 26th, 2008 at 11:34 am
Franki – she actually is, the Saint of Mothers with Weird Sons
February 26th, 2008 at 11:55 am
*sigh* Tortorella insists on making player changes like this without consulting me first. I like Prospal.
February 26th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
My question: why don’t the ev weirdos get after those hockey players for having sex on the ice? I mean, damn, you always find the most homoerotic photos for your blog. Do the hockey players hang out like real people in Phillie? Here in Denver, you can see them at the mall, playing with their kids at the park, dancing in the clubs, whatever. Nice guys.

The Smirking Cat – and they just let Brad go now too, the fire sale is on! at least they re-signed Boyle
On a Limb with Claudia – yep, actually a lot of Flyers live somewhat near me in South Jersey.
February 26th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Inquiring minds Van, want to know, what is (other than Chimay) your beer of choice??! Hmmm?? Oh, and the charge theme? Yeah, I gets the giggles too.
February 26th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Claudia – you know I actually really like a fairly common beer in these parts – Yuengling a lot. I also love Duvel, the previously mentioned Magic Hat #9, Smithwick’s, Kwak, Victory’s Hop Devil, anything by the Unibroue brewery, Paulander too

Took them long enough to get their mojo back. Gracious. It was getting depressing!
February 26th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Christy – we shall see if said mojo is indeed returned. i really like the signing of Prospal
February 26th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
That “Road of Death” is sure aptly named. I’m calling it the “Road I Will Never Travel.”

*random stranger alert* I “BS”-ed you from Smirking Cat’s blog. I love the Flyers, not as much as the Stars but I do have a soft spot in my heart for the orange and black — especially since one of my favorite players of ALL time plays for you now. Oh, that’d be Derian Hatcher! LOVE him! I was so mad when he left Dallas but it happens. Also, one of my fave goalies ever was a Flyer — Ron Hextall: Goalie God!
Like SCat, I have a total goalie fetish. Of course today, Dallas sent our GREAT backup goalie, Mike Smith, to the Bolts and we got stuck with Holmqvist. I’m beside myself with joy. LOL Its a good opp for Smitty cuz he’ll be the starter there and he’s earned it. Holmqvist can ride the pine here in Dallas and backup Turco cuz, well, he’s earned that too. But, we did get Richards outta the deal so I guess thats pretty cool.
Perhaps I should stop rambling now since this is the first time I’ve ever even commented on your blog. I just get a little over zealous about hockey

*Grumble* Your team beat my team. /Grumble
February 26th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
SQT – yeah me neither, i can’t believe the shot of that jeep on the road
unstabbleblogger – Hatch is a great hitter, not the fastest guy on the ice
but a great d-man for sure. Hexy was awesome, mean as they come in the net. yeah, you guys getting Richards was awesome. and welcome, hockey lovers are always welcome
Angela – well, it’s about time we did, the Sabres have owned us forever
February 26th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Flyers win … and Bobby Clarke’s “Trade ‘em and get ‘em back” policy is back in play. We’ll get Picard back in mid-2010, I predict.
