I will hold your hand to prevent your heiney from freezing off
I talked to the kids last night on the phone. Bubs has promised me lots of green tickets this week at school. Viv is really interested in going ice skating with me when they get up here in April. But only if I promise to hold her hand so she doesn’t freeze her heiney off.
I had a meeting last night with a new client/friend looking for a site plus an OSC site as well. She brought over a Cab-Sav and two new books for me to read too. I’ve got a nice full plate of stuff to get done this week, lots of work for NitroVideo.
I started World War Z, which is a great page turner break from the 250 year old political satire of Voltaire I read last week. Also, I love zombies.
I started The Assassination of Jesse James before bed and it’s very good, and slow. I’m really impressed with Casey Affleck – he was good in Gone Baby Gone, but his portrayal of the young naive Robert Ford in Assassination is really impressive.
The doctor asked him what he was afraid of,
just what was he running away from?
And he said it’s not a fear of success nor of closeness
but of going through life feeling numbThat’s why I love the unknown,
love the unknown,
He said he loves the unknown.

I heard that movie was slow as well. =o/ Didn’t Affleck get nominated for something due to that role. A zombie war, huh? Sounds spook-a-ful.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Christy – it’s really good so far. and yep, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for this role
February 25th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Gee, a new blog template and everything! I gotta get out more often…
February 25th, 2008 at 9:42 am
I love the idea that holding your baby girls hand will save her from anything — cold heinie’s and all.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:44 am
Craig – yep, it’s all about progress around these parts *hikes up pants*
Slow Panic – i miss her so much
February 25th, 2008 at 9:58 am
Has it always said “this blog goes to 11″? Or is it new today? I love that, just so you know.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:00 am
tori – it’s been there since i switched to the new theme, glad you dig it
February 25th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Oh! I like this look… and it goes to 11!!!!!
February 25th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Hmm, I suppose with all this zombie reading you do, your chances of surviving the zombie appocalypse are very good.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:28 am
I didn’t get too far past the title of this post, to be honest….but now my ass does feel very warm
February 25th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Jazz – thank you!
Chris – this fits in with my whole cutting my lawn with a manual reel mower, for when the polar bears come down from their melting ice caps and maul everyone for melting their shit. they will see my mower and i’ll be their leader like that…
flutter – ass heating, it’s what i do *curtsey*
February 25th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Wow, you read a lot. That’s great. I have an accumulation of books on my side table that I swear I am going to dive into this week.
February 25th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Next time Im forced to go north in the winter, I may use that line in reverse: Hold my heiney, I’m freezing my hands off.
February 25th, 2008 at 11:00 am
The Smirking Cat – if i stop reading, i’ll start getting even stupider than i already am, it’s a fear
Bud – no offense, but i’m not holding your heiney
February 25th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
nobody holds my hand or heiney, but to be fair, i don’t have any heiney to speak of.
*sigh*
February 25th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
liv – well, from what i’ve researched, don’t do sidebends or situps
February 25th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
I’ve got thermal long johns on and my favorite (non paint covered) Old Navy men’s sweatshirt size 20x too big. AND my son’s soccer socks on that are like thick and fugly but warm. So, my heiney, while totally NOT HOT today, is warm. But I’d hold your hand if you needed me to, as long as you kept your mitts of my Chimay.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
I’m with flutter.
You’re the post title KING.
February 25th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Dude, I think you should start an “I will mail you” site. We could send money so you could visit the babies and you would send us a beer bottle or some cultural item from Georgia – a rotten peach maybe? It looks like a pretty good gig!
February 25th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
I’ve been reading more lately Van,
but still, I look with profound amazement at your time management skills:
how do you manage to do that much in 24h?
It would take me several days, or more
February 25th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Claudia – roger that, touch your Chimay
slouching mom – you and flutter are dating? hot
On a Limb with Claudia – i’d rather have them up here, we have more snow and better Italian food
Peter – if i stop moving, i start thinking and i hate thinking
February 25th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
If you send me 20 dollars i will buy pizza and beer, and I will send you a picture of my thighs and ass expanding while I eat it..
sounds like a deal to me
February 25th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Cynnie – what kind of pizza?
February 25th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Man, your daughter is brilliant, next time I’m in danger of getting frozen-ass (which is anytime I go outside right now), I’m going to remember this. Do you think it works if I hold my own hand?
February 25th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Those are two movies I want to see. I heard Gone, Baby Gone was really good.
February 25th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Maggie – that will definitely make your hands warmer
mamatulip – Gone Baby Gone was awesome, I so wanted to hate Casey Affleck because being the jaded bastard I am, considered him to have only got the part because his brother wrote the screenplay and directed, but he was great and extremely credible
February 25th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I’m thinking it would take someone holding BOTH of my hands to warm my larger-than-necessary ass.
Gone Baby Gone is on our Netflix. May have to bump it up the list now.
February 25th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Arkie Mama – it’s a great flick, saw it in the theater
February 25th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I saw that Jimmy-Ben Affleck thing this morning. It is great! Love the gay shirt that Ben has on.
February 25th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
extra cheese ..extra veggies…I’m not a savage yanno
February 25th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
That things for sale that I will mail to you is a genius idea if you think about it. If you give me (amount to be inserted later because I have no idea how much it would be) I will go on a childfree vacation to Cabo Wabo. Except it hurts my ears to fly, but I guess I’d suck it up and do it.
February 25th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
meno – hehe, yeah
Cynnie – hot
tori – you’ll just have to up the price then
February 25th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
And extremely cute.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I almost peed my pants laughing at Jimmy and Ben. That was great. I liked that Jimmy said that the other video was bigger than the fat kid with the light sabers….I loved that video too.
February 25th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Part of the Jesse James movie was shot here…. my daughter and I walked the set before Brad got here, so that was fun…. haven’t seen the movie yet though!
February 26th, 2008 at 12:18 am
I LOVE zombies. I need to get that book–I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, and I just need to buy it already. I do know that I’m pretty much screwed when the zombie apocolypse hits.
February 26th, 2008 at 12:41 am
I’m just dying … that Ben Affleck thing was freaking hilarious.
Assassination of Jesse James was excellent. Fantastic flick.
February 26th, 2008 at 1:09 am
Chimay AND Cab-Sav?
Nice weekend, by any standard.
February 26th, 2008 at 5:19 am
Don’t hold my hand–I want my heiney to freeze off.
February 26th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Aww, sweet little munchkin.
My Gawd you get a lot done, man.
February 26th, 2008 at 8:42 am
I’m hoping you’ll take Viv to an ice rink in April, or else you’ll be holding her hand to keep her from drowning. Love the Ben Affleck thing…
February 26th, 2008 at 9:26 am
That Jimmy Kimmel video made me wet myself.
February 26th, 2008 at 10:07 am
mamatulip – yeah that too
april – i’m surprised the light saber kid didn’t make a cameo in his video too
Maureen – it’s a good one, not fast paced movie by any stretch, but still good
Jess Riley – then you should read Max Brook’s other book The Zombie Survival Guide
dorky dad – just finished the movie last night, really liked the stark midwest landscapes throughout the film, the acting was great too
Jocelyn – word
V-Grrrl – roger that, heiney freezing allowed
canarygirl – she’s the best, seriously
Carolyn – yep, we’ll head to the Flyer’s Skatezone for sure
Franki – my parents little dog does that when i come over, usually on my shoe
February 26th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
So you can warm your heiney through hand holding? Good to know.
I loved “World War Z”. Such a cool concept. And I don’t care what you say, Jesse James sucked.
Luv, the weird elbows chick.
February 26th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Tink – that’s exactly what someone with weird elbows would say about Jesse James
February 26th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
I don’t get WWZ. First he writes a humor(ish) book about Zombies and then he writes a serious zombie novel? Is it like sort of tongue-in-cheek or is it just straight zombie drama?
February 26th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
I liked “Jesse James…” but I agree that it was no “Die Hard”. BTW, that picture from Vodkafish is frickin’ hysterical, as was that video. Thanks for sharing!
February 27th, 2008 at 9:36 am
Rob – kinda both
Marty – yep, and i’m glad not every movie is Die Hard.

[...] Last night I finished scanning my books, other than the odd copy that I’ve loaned out and some knitting books/booklets that don’t have barcodes or ISBNs. For the morbidly curious, you can take a peek at my library – I recommend filtering by a keyword tag, such as “knitting” or “cycling.” (Yes, Van, you will find something if you filter by “zombies.”) [...]
