me and scott adams are tight

So, I won this contest at work a few weeks ago and won a brand new iPod Nano. I went to the Apple store and picked up my Product Red 8GB Nano and an armband thingy. First video I watched was the Viv and Rusty movie I made, first song was Jumpin’ on the Bed.

I thought for sure I was going to have the normal workload of a couple hours worth of geekery. Oh no. Not even close. I got two new requests from clients, another issue for the Rasputin project with Marty (it … just … won’t … die). I got home and stored the two remaining window unit A/Cs, finally got the stuborn license plate bolt off to put my new plates on, and then headed over to my parents home for some din-din.

I was having fun with my folks and showing them the pictures on the Nano. My Dad and I made plans to paint my house this weekend too. I decided to call the kids. Bubs talked to me for about a minute and Viv refused to talk. That quickly sent me into some serious sad. I headed home and got to work on all that side work.

The Dilbert comic below was noticed by Craig D and I spotted it too in my Bloglines feed … I’m famous…

Around 9pm the phone rang and it was Viv asking for a princess story. After her story, Bubs wanted me to read him a story. I walked to his bedroom and laid in his blue race car bed and read him a Scooby Doo book.

Here’s some more good news… the kids are coming to see me next month. It’s only a couple of days, and it’s so Dana and I can have our final meeting with the mediator, but I’ll take any time I can have with them. I shared the visit news with my buddy Hope at the Battleship New Jersey and she’s sending me tickets to take them to the NJ Aquarium.

I ended the night watching SQLyog churn away at migrating a SQL DB to a MySQL DB while watching Bottle Rocket. I really like Wes Anderson films a lot, they have such a deliberate cadence and although they normally involve a lot of ridiculousness, the characters always feel real because they are flawed.

Hooray for your kids coming soon!

That cereal thing is cool. I don’t actually like milk in my cereal, but if I did…

  2.  Carolyn Says:

I saw Dilbert in the paper today…was going to bring it over tonight. I’m glad the kids will be coming up, it will be great for all of you. See you later…

  3.  furiousBall Says:

Carolyn – that Dilbert is definitely fridge material. i’m sure you’ll see us zoomin around on our bikes around the lakes

  4.  Open Grove Claudia Says:

YEA! YEA! I’m so delighted that they get to come for a visit.

Yippee!! What’s on the exercise plan for today? Running? Biking?

Can you come paint my house when you’re done. It’s 40 degrees right now!

  5.  furiousBall Says:

Open Grove Claudia – today, i’m going to try and squeeze a run in before I teach my guitar lesson. let’s wait until i post some pictures of my “handiwork” first.

  6.  Mike D. Says:

    Go Flyers!!!

  7.  furiousBall Says:

Mike D. – yeah man, i see sponge bob and pillow forts in my living room’s future. should be a good game tonight against the devils tonight, by good game i of course, mean stomping a new mudhole in them

  8.  Lorrie Says:

Whooo Hooo! The kids are coming. I bet they’ll be all “big eyes” at the cool upgrades you’ve made to the house.

  9.  furiousBall Says:

Lorrie – i’ve got a house to paint this weekend, i’m not sure a freshly painted porch, deck, and tent on the playfort will turn them into Peter Lorre now, but who knows. Note: now that I actually can make a Peter Lorre reference after watching M, I planning on doing so with a tenacity unforeseen by mankind

  10.  Oh, The Joys Says:

I know you’re looking forward to seeing the kids. Glad a visit is on the horizon.

  11.  Chris Says:

Congrats on the nano! And I’m glad the kids called back!! Excellent Dilbert. Been there. Done that. Been there again…

  12.  furiousBall Says:

    OTJ – me too

Chris – the kids calling me back cleared my noggin for me and made me all smiley like this guy :-)

  13.  apertome Says:

I have a hard time imagining watching anything on a screen that small. That Dilbert thing is awesome — let me know if you see one where he says “Apertome.” I know it’s just a matter of time …

Glad you’ll get to see the kids soon, even if the other parts of that visit won’t be fun … ugh. At least you can focus on the kids.

  14.  diesel Says:

Hey, didn’t I recommend that movie to you like a zillion years ago? It was good, wasn’t it?

    Hi, btw.

  15.  Dyna Girl Says:

So, so, ,so glad that the phone rang later. I can’t imagine what that limbo time between your call and their call must have felt like to you. Hurrah!

  16.  dorky dad Says:

Oh, yeah! Furious ball! I read that this morning and was entirely too busy to notice the connection.

  17.  Christy Says:

Not much can beat a movie with the two dreamy Wilson brothers topgether! Oh and lucky you in regards to the Product Red!

  18.  furiousBall Says:

apertome – i’ll set up a google alert for that …

diesel – you sure did, right after i posted a comment of Life Aquatic (which is still my favorite Wes movie). Bottle Rocket was really good tho

Dyna Girl – it felt like crap, anxious crap, the worst kind

    dorky dad – too busy to… well… i … i nearly missed it too

Christy – the opening scene was quite possibly the funniest thing i’ve seen the two of them in ever. i thought the product red was too pinky, but i got over it and hey, some of the proceeds go towards the Global Fund and that’s a good thing

  19.  Marty Says:

That’s fantastic – “Furious Ball” is now a Dilbert phrase… excellent. And I’m hoping to kill Rasputin tonight or tomorrow, if possible. Then we can drink on Sunday (if you’re not painting).

  20.  leo myshkin Says:

the flyers lucked out big time pawning foresberg off on nashville.

  21.  furiousBall Says:

Marty – I’ll be painting rest assured. we’re nearly done, but i forgot how exhausting painting can be… where exactly are the paint muscles located… oh yeah, everywhere

leo myshkin – scottie upshall is a great player (acquired in the trade). truth is holmgren has made excellent moves since taking over as GM, in fact, i can’t say he’s actually made a bad deal (knock on wood). word is forsberg may actually come back and play with the flyers when healthy this season, which i’m fine with. he’s still a good hockey player, especially if we added him to a third line
