pizza, Phillies, and phriends

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

Yesterday was a whirlwind, productive, and fun. My buddy Doug stopped in to hang out with Abbe, my kids, and I to have some pizza, beer, and watch a crazy Phillies – Rockies game last night.

I forgot to get all that sleep I was needing so badly last night, so I’m doubly-tired now.

Oh, before I forget, DressLikeAHo is running two specials right now, use coupon code “25clear” for 25% off any closeout or clearance items or use coupon code “10vamp” to get 10% off orders of $40 or more. Get your Halloween costumes now!

beat

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I am beat today. Lots of working and a run in the dark last night have me tuckered out. I need to force myself to bed early tonight. Very busy day today: code, drop kids off at Mom’s, go to BNI, pick up kids, teach piano lesson, and code until sleepy time.

Movie review…

To Catch a Thief – Cary Grant + Grace Kelly + Alfred Hitchcock = it’s awesome.

I am not training to run a marathon…

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Abbe and I ran our butts off yesterday – 11.2 miles around Cooper River Park! Around mile 9 or so, Abbe was getting really tired. I told her about her cousin Alayna’s facebook update from yesterday. Alayna is fine, but had a low platelets scare and had to go into the hospital on Saturday – she’s fine now and even got to make the movies that same day. If Alayna can be brave and fight, then we can do the same. Abbe and I both stopped complaining about how tired we were and finished strong. I tell myself this very often, I am not training to run a marathon, I’m training to raise money for adults and kids like Alayna.

For anyone who would like to donate toward our goals…

Afterwards, Abbe and I had some late lunch/dinner at PJ’s and I spotted some blueberries growing in the parking lot amongst some black-eyed Susans (I think they are at least). We came home, finished watching the Phils beat the Nats and chilled/whimpered about our sore legs the rest of the night away.

bathing suit design and a very important race

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I love when Viv plays in the sewing room with Abbe. After a few projects, Abbe lets Viv take the scraps to the dress form and design something. This design was a bathing suit…

Beautiful, I know… but wait ladies, get a load of the back… I’m taking orders now.

You might notice a new box on the top right over there… yes, Abbe and I are running the Disney Marathon this January to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am looking to raise at least $3500 between now and then. My motivation is not to say I completed a marathon. Why the hell would anyone want to run 26 miles? It’s going to feel great to complete this thing for sure, but I look at the battle Abbe’s 10 year old cousin Alayna has taken on. And although, Charlie Haughey has a different form of cancer, I can’t help but think of the little hero around the corner from me too while I train. I am asking everyone to help me raise money. Small amounts do matter, and hopefully crossing the finish line happens well before January 9th, when I will most likely be throwing up as I run through the princess’ castle (we really do run through there!). If you can, please give… also, please share this with anyone and everyone you know, retweet and click the Facebook share button on our donation pages.

backscratchers and chocolate syringes

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Yesterday was a decent day: the kids and I went to the library for a bit and Viv claimed a summer reading program prize (Viv picked a backscratcher… here is one happy girl and said backscratcher…

Abbe came home very happy – she had a good day at work, her boss gave her a chocolate syringe, and she got to drive her new non-spewing smoke car… here’s another happy girl and said chocolate syringe…

Also, I had a great piano lesson with Lori and I did my first run since the poison ivy kicked my butt last week. Abbe and I did a very dark 2.72 miles through Medford Lakes last night and I felt pretty good.
