Bubble Boom-aholic

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Here’s Bubs and Abbe filming an on-location newscast from in the field reporter, Vivienne… (I think Abbe was interviewed)…

And here’s Bowie trying to get Abbe’s attention while Abbe was folding laundry…

And here is my latest battle… Abbe’s addiction to Bubble Boom.

While it’s great she’s earning me a couple of pennies here and there (actually probably more like fractions of a penny) by playing so much, she gets a little… umm… intense… yes, she’s pretending to shoot the bubbles here…might need an intervention…

Books the kids and I have been readingDolphins In Danger (Adventures Of Riley) – it’s another Adventures of Riley book – the kids love ‘em, Hush, Baby Ghostling – Vivienne LOVES this story, Adventures of Riley–Mission to Madagascar – again, Riley = teh awesomes, Skelly & Femur – kids like this one, great illustrations but not much reading involved, South Pole Penguins (Adventures Of Riley) – Riley + tales of penguin poop? as we say here in Jersey… fuhgetaboutit, There Was An Old Monster! – kids like this, there is also a song you can download.

R..r…r…r, r..r…r….r…

Monday, July 13th, 2009

After shredding my neck in the attic while pulling down some baby stuff to give to a friend of Abbe’s and Abbe’s sister and putting up decking to create more storage space for my ex (she’s currently getting charged $200/month).  I finally did the r-word. R..r…r…r, r..r…r….r…, relax. That! Beautiful day, we had a blast over at my Mom’s and my beautiful goddaughter Danielle, Aunt Cis, and Elijah were all over.

I finally started playing around with Flex and man, it’s bad ass. Can’t wait to create some stuff with this! I was thinking about writing the furiousCMS help file with Flex, but that seems like a bad choice (flash for help?) right now. So I’m probably going to do a boring href anchor thing like most help files and upgrade it as I have time.

jump!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

So I haven’t been commenting on blogs the past week for the most part. I’ve been busy (which is a good, good thing). The bad news is that I haven’t been able to do much fun stuff with the exception of making myself stop working late yesterday afternoon to go swimming at my mother’s with Abbe, the kids, and Holly and her son, Caden. In the process though, I’ve launched a new game arcade (FlashGameFever.com – still under construction a lil’ bit) with Sage, designed a WordPress blog template for Climate Skateboards, worked on several projects with Porn Site Terry, completing a rather tricky Joomla template implementation, and continued work with Dixon Hill on theFamilyRegistry.com. Here’s some pics from yesterday… check out Viv jumping off the diving board for the first time!

Longswamp, PA IQ Test

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

OK, you know those IQ test ads that pop-up all around Facebook? Well, whilst checking out my hockey team in Hockey Tycoon (which may very well over take Mafia Wars as my favorite Facebook game, this ad came up…

What’s odd here is that, the first picture is Abbe, the second is her sister Rachel, her sister Emily’s pregnant belly, and then her brother’s girlfriend Mal. The captions below each picture kill me.

Some good news, Sage and I are moving forward with the FlashGameFever.com design, look for the flash game arcade to launch after the weekend most likely. I’ll be using Mochiads for the first time, pretty psyched to work with their engine. Lowgrove Farm will be live very soon as well, the owner is very pleased with the design that Liv and I came up with. I will be working on a Macon, GA pediatrician’s website in the next week or two thanks to a referral/sale by Liv as well. What does all this mean? Well, the checks haven’t started coming in yet, but I will most likely be able to cut back to partial unemployment very soon (and maybe even come completely off too). I’m right around the corner from really doing this. The furiousCMS that I started developing with Climate Skateboards (and subsequent modifications with the Wheelies redesign) is really making this happen. I’ll write more about this tomorrow or the next day, I need to head out the door to meet with Bill from Dixon Hill to get crackin’ on theFamilyRegistry.com.

The kids and I have been reading a-plenty; Bye-Bye, Big Bad Bullybug! (good, but a little below both kids’ reading level), Bob’s Best-Ever Friend (awesome, great illustrations and really imaginative story), A Mother for Choco (very sweet), Would I Ever Lie to You? (really good, definitely our kind of humor), and Digby Takes Charge (pretty good, nice message).

Movie review…

Witness for the Prosectuion – I really wasn’t that impressed with this Agatha Christie film, it was OK, the characters were good, and I really liked Marlene Dietrich, but Tyrone Power’s overacting would have made William Shatner blush.
